More about
OUR STORY
Formed in 1999, the Classic & Vintage Motor Racing Club of Jersey was started by a small group of car and bike enthusiasts who wanted two things: a place to compete with their classics, and a relaxed, family-friendly social scene. That same spirit still drives the club today.
Our members own all kinds of machinery – from period race cars and historic bikes to cherished road-going classics that may never see a start line. If you love your vehicle and enjoy good company, you’ll fit right in, whether you’re competing, marshalling, or just soaking up the atmosphere.
HOW OUR ELIGIBILITY EVOLVED
When the club was founded, eligibility was simple:
any car or bike built up to December 1978 was considered a classic.
Over time, values rose and many early classics became too valuable to race or too expensive for younger members to buy. To keep the club accessible and welcoming to new generations, we updated the rules.
We now use a rolling 25-year cut-off for competition vehicles.
That means eligible classics are those built at least 25 years ago
(for example, in 2025 the cut-off year would be 2000).
This keeps our grids:
Varied and interesting
Realistic to own and run
Open to both long-term members and newcomers
.
WHY WE COMPETE
We don’t race for trophies – We race for fun.

SAFETY, VETTING & REGULATIONS
Even with our laid-back atmosphere, safety is non-negotiable.
All competition entries are vetted by the club speed committee and must comply with regulations laid down by Motor Sport UK (MUK) and the ACU.
Before you buy or build a car or bike specifically for our events, please:
speak to a member of the speed committee, or
contact the car and bike captains
They can advise you on eligibility and suitability for our local venues. Some high-performance modern classics may simply be too powerful for our existing speed venues under our track licences.
OUR FLAGSHIP EVENTS
The club organises two main events each year:
Jersey International Festival of Motoring
A three-day celebration of motoring and motorsport, usually held in early June.Festival of Speed
A dedicated race weekend, typically held over the August Bank Holiday, featuring sprints, hill climbs and timed runs.
In addition, our calendar regularly includes:
local sprints and hill climbs
track days in Jersey, France and the UK
social runs, club nights and informal gatherings
